Terms of Reference for the President and Council is to:

  • Maintain standards of medical care in Sri Lanka through its continued contributions to planning and evaluation of health service delivery
  • Support our members and fellows to be effective physicians to meet the changing demands of society and patient expectations
  • Ensure Continued Professional Development of our members that would further enhance their potential to be good trainers and role models
  • Play an advocacy role with policy makers and planners while taking into account government policy and voicing the aspirations and concerns of our members, but always maintaining the College’s independence and principles
  • Strengthen and develop collaboration with other colleges, societies, associations and organizations - locally, regionally and internationally- primarily to have a positive impact on the health care delivery in Sri Lanka
  • Encourage research and the development in Academic Medicine
  • Ensure good governance and management of the functioning of our own college in order to benefit its entire membership
